Notes: #
- XMPT requires a Tax ID Number (TIN) for Nevada in a format that has 10 digits, a dash, and then three digits. THIS IS NOT THE ACCOUNT ID, it is the LOCATION ID that is provided by the state under the account ID on the state's sales tax registration card. If you attempt to confirm the certificates on the Nevada website, you will need to enter the location code.
- The Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement Certificate of Exemption can be used for multiple exemptions, including government, resale, manufacturing, and direct pay exemptions.
- TAX-F005 (Resale Certificate) must be provided by the purchaser and includes a valid Nevada seller’s permit number.
- Most nonprofit exemptions (charitable, religious, educational, and medical) require an application and approval from the Nevada Department of Taxation.
- Agricultural equipment exemptions apply only to specific machinery and do not cover vehicles or general farm supplies.
- Sellers must retain exemption certificates for at least three years for audit purposes.
- If a sale is later deemed taxable and the buyer did not pay sales tax at the time of purchase, they must pay use tax to Nevada.
